Have Faith Ministries
Training men to be godly men in the church and in their families seems to be a forgotten area of instruction in many churches across our country. God's word is very clear about the importance of training up men in the church. Carefully read the following passages:
2Timothy 2:2, "And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."Matthew 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
At Have Faith Christian Fellowship Church we have a strong discipleship ministry. All men that are faithful are personally discipled by men that have been discipled
or by the pastor himself. This is done in a number of ways. One on one discipling is done with those men that can make themselves available for personal instruction.
Also, at least twice a year, special 8 to 10 week, men's Bible studies are held on Thursday evenings. God intends for his word to shape our lives for His glory and purpose. Therefore these Bible studies are intense and extremely personal and practical. The leadership at
HFCF strives to see all the men eventually using their spiritual gifts within the church. Over time and with observation the leadership will encourage men to pursue areas that they "appear" to be gifted in. To often Christians may try and pursue a ministry area in which they've received no conformation from godly leaders. This can lead to a lot of frustration. It is far better for church members to be guided by their leaders, rather than to assume that they have this or that gift. With a watchful eye the pastor may encourage some in areas of teaching and preaching. Others may be encouraged to pursue service ministries. Ministry opportunities are made available after men have spent long periods of time with the pastor learning how to study the Word of God and learning how to prepare and deliver messages and Bible studies. God's word is clear about not choosing men quickly for service. So the leadership at
HFCF requires that men be observed over long periods of time so that their doctrine, character and lifestyle may be proven before all men. The goal of discipleship is to train others to reach and train others still. Jesus emphasized not just leading men to Christ, but also training these new believers. In addition to obedience to God's command to make disciples, the other blessing of discipleship is that the church can grow very strong through the multiplication of ministry and evangelism.
