Title: Do we see the need?

Becoming sensitive to the condition of the Lost.

Intro: What would you do if you were walking down the road and came upon an injured person?

You'd Help them.

You'd See the Need.

You'd be sensitive to their condition.

Most of us would quickly respond to someone who had a need in the physical realm, But what about the needs of people Spiritually? Don't we see the need? Are we sensitive to their needs?

There's a reason I did not begin with an illustration that had you driving down the road and coming upon an injured person while you're in a hurry to get somewhere.

Sometimes we're so busy...so in tune with what WE NEED... that we Don't see the needs of others as we ZOOM by them. We convince ourselves: 3Someone else will stop" or "They don't need my help" or "What could I do to help them?"

We need to walk up to the injured spiritually, the lost and dying spiritually. Stop zooming by them! Stop having a callous heart towards the needs of the unsaved.

Can you remember your zeal for the lost when you were first saved?

The Need was fresh in your mind.

The Blessing of Salvation was exciting!

The Bondage to the Fear of Death was gone!

You had a new Peace with God and peace about the Future!

You had a NEW Hope!

What did we want to do with all this news? Tell others, right !

Probably you were telling you're Friends, your Relatives, even Strangers.

You were Anxious to share. You prayed earnestly. You Jumped at opportunities to talk about Salvation through Jesus Christ. Why? Because you were sensitive to the needs of the Lost and Dying. Because you yourself had just been given new life.

Then something happens to so many of us. We can grow callous. Like rough leathery hands, we become insensitive. We stop feeling the pain of others. We're barely aware of the spiritual struggles of those all around us. You know this is true. Unfortunately, this trend of becoming insensitive seems to be the norm for all to many Christians in the church today.

What will help us to stay sensitive to the needs of others?

We must never forget what we have been saved from.

We must never forget that we live in a lost and dying world.

We must never forget that it is OUR responsibility to reach the Lost / unsaved.

Think of the injured person in need in our opening illustration.

Their need is: present, right in front of you, you cannot help but see the physical need.

So why don't we see the need of those that are lost and dying spiritually?

Ask yourself...Have I lost my sensitivity? Am I so involved with my own things that I can't see the needs of others? Have we forgotten this truth:

That all men are in the process of being saved or being destroyed.

John 3: 36 "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

God's wrath is hovering, (present active verb). In the same way that we are getting closer and closer to experiencing our Salvation with the redeemed body...resurrected body.

In that same way...Those without Christ in this world are getting closer and closer to experiencing God's wrath.

Does that concern you?

These truths Should make us sensitive?

These truths should create in us a Sense of urgency to proclaim the GOOD NEWS?

The early church understood the urgency. They seized the moment...

Almost 2000 years later we find a very complacence church,

a laid back attitude about reaching the lost.

We should pray:

To be Sensitive,

To be willing

What is the responsibility and function of the body of Christ?

Are we only to be building up of ourselves? Is the ministry and teaching within the body - to be are only focus? No! It's one of our focuses and purposes, but not the only one.

One preacher said..."We need to gather to be edified and scatter to evangelize."

Think of what the apostles emphasized:

The apostles wrote much of the New Testament while they were on the run. While they were out starting Churches, while they were in prison for Preaching the Gospel, while they were going on one missionary journey after another. Doctrine was never sacrificed for the sake of evangelism and evangelism was never sacrificed for the sake of spending time on doctrine. The early church focused on both. We need to have the same emphasis.

We need to be a pillar of truth. 1Tim. 3:15 ,I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

We must stand for sound Teaching, sound Doctrine and we need to be Witnesses.

Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

We need to be Proclaiming Jesus Christ, Crucified, Raised from the dead and Coming again. And so often we preach the first two and forget or neglect to preach that Jesus is coming again. That Great and Terrible Day of the Lord is coming. That Time of Jacobs Trouble, that Time of Great Tribulation is coming. And some times as Christians we live as if there's NO REAL CONCERN, NO REAL NEED OR URGENCY FOR THE LOST SOULS.

Friends, we need to be reminded that God has given us great Testimony in His Word. The book of Revelation alone, devotes 16 chapters to this Event. God's wrath is coming and there is a real concern. And we need to be Preaching, Jesus Christ, Crucified, Raised from the dead and Coming again.

Let us see the need and be sensitive. Let us remember that God has called us to proclaim the Gospel. We need to remember... there's No other way for men to get saved. So we MUST tell them about Jesus Christ and His works on the Cross.

We come in contact with sinners all the time. Those Sinners need The Savor. It's easy to see the physical needs of these people all around us, but we need to remind ourselves of the GREAT NEED.

What does it say in Acts 4:12, "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."

There's NO other way for their need to be met. And You and I KNOW that way!

We know the way to the Holy Father. We know the way of Salvation. Shouldn't we be telling others? Shouldn't we be correcting those that are headed down the wrong path? We know that there is only one way for sin to be dealt with. Are you spiritually sensitive enough that you will tell the lost around you? You have people in your life that have NO Peace. Don't you care about them? They're unsure, uncertain of their future. Yet, you know the message that brings hope and certainty to one's future.

Let's stop being insensitive to the needs of the lost! Let's see the urgency and tell our friends, our neighbors and relatives about the Lord's Salvation.

Choose at least one person today that you've been insensitive towards, concerning their spiritual need. Go to that person after sincere prayer, and tell them the blessed gospel. Then regardless of the response of the first person you tell, pray and then go to one more, then one more and on and on.
